From Hunger to Healing: Margaret’s Story Continues

We first shared Margaret’s story in November 2025. A mother of newborn twins, three‑year‑old twins, and two older children, she was struggling so deeply that she was eating grass for food after being abandoned by her husband. Thanks to the generosity of supporters, we were able to step in and begin providing her with weekly food.

When we visited this month, our hearts were full. Margaret was so thankful. Her children looked healthy, with clear skin and bright, happy faces, and her five‑month‑old twins were growing beautifully. What a transformation—and what a testimony to the power of your generosity.

And there is even more good news. This month, we were able to build and install a door on her hut. Margaret told us she can now sleep without fear and leave her home without worry. Something as simple as a door has brought her peace of mind and dignity.

Weekly Nutrition Sessions

In April we enjoyed another beautiful weekly nutrition session with our mothers and aunties. The team went to the garden and harvested fresh amaranthus, moringa, soybeans, and maize, then prepared a very nutritious and tasty porridge. Everyone enjoyed a taste, and the team encouraged the mothers to grow these same crops in their own gardens.

A Beautiful Day in the Fields

We spent time with one of the elderly women in our nearby community, a 72‑year‑old who still farms her own two hectares of land. We joined her in harvesting and helped shuck her corn, and as we worked, our team began to sing. The songs carried across the field, transforming the afternoon into a joyful celebration of strength and togetherness.

A Game‑Changer for Agroforestry Irrigation

Our latest addition is here—the biggest waterbed ever seen! This giant water bladder measures 18 meters by 11 meters. We fill it using a solar pump, eliminating the need for a diesel pump and saving significantly on fuel costs. The stored water will irrigate our agroforestry plots.

Growing in God’s Word Together

We’ve launched our second Equip to Serve group, and the momentum is beautiful. The participants are loving the classes. Each session begins with a shared dinner, followed by two hours of focused study. They’re memorizing Scripture and being encouraged to read their Bibles and journal every day, and it’s inspiring to see their enthusiasm grow.

A Workplace That Lifts a Community

Our staff inspires us every day, led by our dedicated team of nine who serve with excellence and heart. The impact of the jobs we provide reaches far beyond our borders, and countless families are finding security and opportunity through this work. As the largest employer in over a 100-kilometre radius, Mitongwe stands as a powerful source of hope for our entire region.

From Trainings to Village Visits

The past two months have been a beautiful whirlwind of activity and impact. We’ve hosted trainings, walked alongside our interns, strengthened our cattle feeding program, and filled the field with sports and singing. We visited families in the villages, welcomed friends from Canada, and gathered the community to watch the Jesus Film. We also enjoyed a special ladies’ afternoon and blessed girls with menstrual pad kits, all alongside many staff meetings that keep the work moving forward.
