Feeding health on an Island filled with despair

In June, I (Dan) travelled to Seikkyi Island, in the middle of the Yangon River, with a local GMO called GraceWorks Myanmar.  They run "Free Education Teaching" for the local children in this Buddhist community, concentrating on Myanmar basics, English and Math.  They are also able to introduce the Gospel.

Seikkyi Island is only accessible by boat.  Many residents never leave the island, even though, over the river, you can see the modern city of Yangon.  On landing, we were introduced to the challenging sights and smells of a very impoverished community.  There is no water or sanitation systems for the thousands of people.  Children are under fed, 1 in 5 die from lack of nutrition, 38% have stunted growth or development.

Despite all this we were greeted enthusiastically at the Preschool.  We donated 12 bags of Alpha Nutri Soup, enough for 1200 children.  They loved it!  GraceWorks will now continue to provide this much needed nutrition.  God is so good.  It is always great to see the response of a well fed child.
